About the Journal

The scope of the journal is to disseminate educational research in general, and particularly of research foci of the Private University College of Education of the Diocese of Linz, Austria, which, amongst others, include inquiry learning, inclusion, values, dispositions, teacher personality, development of learning arrangements. Both empirical and theoretical papers are welcome, no specific research approach is given prevalence. The journal publishes articles in German and English and follows the APA guidelines.

The name of the journal, Pedagogical Horizons, envisions a broad view of the educational landscape, especially on challenging border zones, a focus on possibility knowledge (as opposed to stability knowledge, cf. Engeström, 2007).

Furthermore, the editorial board is bound to the mission statement of the Private University of Education, Diocese of Linz. 

The journal is open access: It provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. No charges are taken for the submission, review, layout, and publication of academic articles. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This is in accordance with the DOAI definition of open access.
